Mitch began his football career at North Delta minor football at the age of 6. He played high school football at Holy Cross for three years before leading North Delta Secondary School’s football team to the playoffs. Mitch was also a star basketball player and captained the North Delta High School Basketball team to the AAA Championships. As a senior, he won All-Provincial honours as both a kicker and punter and was also the team’s starting quarterback.
After high school, Mitch accepted a scholarship for football at Tyler Junior College where he was selected as a 1st team All-American. Shortly after, he accepted a full ride scholarship to the University of Colorado Buffaloes, a NCAA Division I school, as a field goal kicker and punter. During these years, he was selected as a 1st team All-American in 1992.
After college football, Mitch was selected in the 1994 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles and played for 16 years in the NFL on several different teams. He was acknowledged for 2 Pro Bowls, and more importantly was on the 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Championship Team.
Mitch was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
