Mark McDonald

Athlete (Amateur) | 2023

In their long-storied history, the Meralomas football program churned out many star players who went on to make their mark in the football world. Among those stars was Mark McDonald.

Mark attended Kitsilano High School but, as his school did not have a football program, elected to join the Meralomas Juvenile team and was part of three BC Juvenile Championships. He would then graduate to their Junior Team and win three consecutive BC Junior Championships while being the team’s leading receiver.

He would join Wenatchee Valley Junior College in 1971 and was named to the All-America Junior College Team in 1972. He would move on to play for the University of Washington Huskies in 1973-74.

Mark would then go on to join the pro ranks playing nine years in the CFL, mostly with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 1975 to 1978. He would also appear in games with the Calgary Stampeders, BC Lions, Toronto Argonauts, as well as the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Mark continues to contribute to football and the community through coaching high school football for over 35 years.
