Jack Farley was President of the BC Lions Football Club from 1977 to 1978 and served as a member of the Executive for nine years from 1974 to 1983. He also worked tirelessly for the club promoting the Lions in the community and chairing several Grey Cup organizing committees including 1983, 1986 and 1994. He has been presented with many awards for his service to football including the Fred H. Dietrich Memorial Award that recognizes outstanding contributions to SFU Athletics. He was a board member of Simon Fraser University from 1982 to 1988. Jack was involved with the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, serving as a board member from 1983, and chair from 1991 to 1993. He led the drive to see a world class Hall of Fame and Museum built in BC Place after moving from its original site at the PNE. He was elected to the BC Sports Hall of Fame himself in 1996 and was named a charter member of the BC Lions Wall of Fame. Jack was also Chair of the 1999 Grey Cup played in Vancouver. He is also a recipient of the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award in recognition of his contribution to his community.
