Dr. Frank Lodato

Special Award | 2022

Dr. Frank Lodato was often described as a professional player’s closest friend. Over the years, he has been a tremendous source of support and strength for players and staff of the BC Lions Football Club.

He has put in countless hours and years guiding and implementing his sports psychology program to the entire team, while working closely with the medical staff to effectively give the team the best chance to win.

Lodato first became involved with the BC Lions upon the arrival of Wally Buono as head coach in 2003. He remained with the team through Wally’s entire tenure. Not only that, he provided his services pro bono. He first got involved with the CFL back in 1983 when he worked with the Montreal Concordes, whose coaching staff included Buono. He would continue to work with Buono with the Calgary Stampeders and, ultimately, in BC.

Only the players and staff of the BC Lions can talk about the true impact of Lodato on the team. He passed away in October 2021.
