Dale Baxter was blessed with sprinter speed, a rocket of an arm, an unmatched intensity, competitiveness and leadership skills that attracted athletes to him.
Dale was 19 when he joined the Dolphins in 1978, after his older brother encouraged him to because he could run and the team needed a rusher. Most of the Dolphins were older ex-ball players, and though Dale had never played organized football, he was an all round talented athlete.
After the Dolphins lost in the semi-finals that first year they wanted to bring in a QB with experience, and Dale was immediately suggested by his cousin, who had seen him throw during pick-up challenge games in Surrey.
Dale would go on to lead the Dolphins to 7 National Titles in 10 Championship games.
