Bill Good Sr.

Media | 2012

Bill Good was associated with Canadian Football and particularly with coverage of the BC Lions from the club’s founding and for many years as a major voice for CBC Radio, CKWX and CKNW. His first love seems to have been Curling however and his legendary presence at the Brier (he missed just two in 40 years) made his election to the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame a perfect cap to his involvement in the game. His presence at BC Lions games was equally important as he reigned over the local media with his booming post-game analysis alongside many other Hall of Fame characters. His show “Touchdown Topics” was a mainstay of local radio providing public access to the inside of the club’s fortunes. He was elected to the Football Reporters branch of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1982, just the fourth year that inductions were made for members of the media. Bill won the Foster Hewitt ACTRA Award for Excellence in Sports Broadcasting in 1975.
