1947 Vancouver Blue Bombers

Team | 2011

This junior club captured the 1947 Dominion Junior Football championship under the leadership of Mr. Ranjit Mattu. They defeated the defending Eastern champion Hamilton Tigers by 19-8 to become the first BC-based club to win the national junior title. Former BC Lions special assistant coach Lorne Davies was a key member of the 1947 championship team and he went on to fame as the head coach of the Simon Fraser Clansmen. Many of their players made into pro football including Rod Pantages, Ced Gyles and Ernie Choukalos. Having won the West the previous year, the 1947 squad went undefeated and did not allow a single point in six league games.
