1939 Kitsilano High School Football Team

Team | 2016

Kitsilano Secondary was one four founding schools which made up the Vancouver & District Inter-High School Football League established in 1934. Playing their games in the spring and under Canadian rules through the 1948 season, the league switched to a fall campaign in 1949 and adopted American Federation rules which it still plays under today.

In 1939, Kitsilano won its first V & D championship laying a foundation upon which the school became a major power over the next decade including five consecutive titles from 1941 to 1945; an accomplishment no other school has equaled in more than 80 years of BC high school football.

During its 43 years of participation, Kitsilano piled-up a total of 12 championships before the football program ended in 1977.
